Research

The University of Calgary has an ambitious goal of being among the top five Canadian research universities by 2010.  An acknowledged indicator of the quality and activity of research universities and their faculty members is the total amount of research revenue generated.  Sponsored research revenue is often taken as a proxy measure of the quality of the faculty cohort.
