In the dark, urban labyrinths of Hello...Hello, economics is the new religion and art has finally melded with commerce. Here, the latest fashion craze is a tiny glass ball filled with poison which hangs from the necks of every accountant, CEO, and telemarketer.  Lost amidst the towering glass, stylish cafés, and monumental billboards, a girl meets a boy and falls in love.  But the sky is falling too...  From Karen Hines (creator of Pochsy, director of Mump and Smoot) comes a beautifully tragic comedy set in a drop of poison.

This year will mark the fifth anniversary of the Department of Drama’s annual festival of student work. This exciting festival has grown each year to become a unique showcase of theatre in Calgary.

With selections extending from staged readings by graduate level playwrights to performance creation and improvisation, to complete one act plays by some of the world’s most respected playwrights, Taking Flight is more than just an opportunity for the public to see the cumulative work of many Drama classes, it is a chance to celebrate Calgary’s future performers, designers and technicians as they ‘take flight’.
