Jolly St. Nick and Mrs. Claus brought North Pole-like weather with them as more than 500 U of C alumni and their families braved Calgary's first snowstorm of the winter for the third annual Alumni Skate with Santa on December 7. Santa touches down once a year before Christmas to experience the fastest ice in the world at the Olympic Oval. It was so fast this year that it gave one dad the confidence to challenge Santa to a race, but Santa prevailed before enjoying some hot chocolate and the wonderful Christmas baking Mrs. Claus had brought with her.
Thanks to the folks at the Oval, the Calgary Herald and event sponsor Canada Life for their support of this popular event. Santa looks forward to seeing all the alumni and their children on the ice again next year.
