Light Up The World Foundation

Leaving a footprint around the world

U of C Wealth Creation: beyond measure

Lighten life

The expertise flowing from the U of C has impact around the world. A heart-warming example making a tremendous difference is the work of Dr. Dave Irvine-Halliday and his co-founder, Ken Robertson.

Through the Light Up The World Foundation (LUTW), an international humanitarian organization affiliated with the U of C, they are bringing the gift of light to many of the world’s poorest regions.

Bright technology

Using ultra-efficient, durable and near permanent white light emitting diodes, Irvine-Halliday and Robertson have created affordable, safe, healthy, efficient and environmentally responsible lighting.

Through active fund-raising, LUTW and its partners have lit up more than 10,000 homes in many countries including Afghanistan, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, India, Nepal, Mexico, Pakistan, Philippines, Peru and Sri Lanka.

More than 60,000 people are now able to be active after dark, including the ability to read. The goal of LUTW is an admirable one: to reach the approximately two billion people worldwide who do not have access to adequate lighting. The positive impact that may result worldwide is immeasurable.
