Emergency Warden System

For over twenty years the University of Calgary Emergency Wardens have provided the largest body of volunteers on campus.  With a current strength of nearly eight hundred people these volunteers have been selflessly serving the university population through critical incidents.

Emergency Wardens are the first organized responders to every fire alarm on campus.  The information they collect and report enables the responding agencies to quickly determine their priorities and deliver the best possible service they can to our community.

Employees, students and visitors are expected to evacuate the building during all fire alarms.  This will ensure the safety of first reponders as they will not have to re-enter the building to look for individuals who have not evacuated.

Remember this the next time an Emergency Warden is shooing you out of a building or refusing you entry.  They are volunteers and have your best interests at heart.
