Three new books that examine the history of Arctic exploration will be launched at an event jointly hosted by the Arctic Institute of North America and the University of Calgary Press.
The book launch is being held at Aquila Books on Wednesday, Nov. 26 beginning at 7 p.m. Speaking will be Prof. Rob Huebert, Associate Director of the Centre for Military and Strategic Studies, and Benoit Beauchamp, Executive Director of the Arctic Institute. William Barr, a senior research associate with the Arctic Institute, will be available to sign copies of his book, The Expeditions of the First International Polar Year, 1882-83.
The other two books presented at the launch: Lands that Hold One Spellbound: A Story of East Greenland, by Spencer Apollonio, and Resurrecting Dr. Moss: The Life and Letters of a Royal Navy Surgeon, by Paul Appleton.
Everyone is welcome to this free event. Light refreshments will be served.
