When was the last time you watched your super 8, 8mm or 16mm home movies?
If you have home movies on Super 8, 8mm or 16mm film that you've never seen, or haven't watched since you inherited them from your parents or grandparents—don't let your films decay. Home Movie Day is Saturday, Oct. 18.
University of Calgary professor and film archivist, Charles Tepperman, will assess the quality of your home made films and determine if they can be put through a projector without causing damage. Visitors will learn how to care for and extend the life of their films and watch their films through proper projection equipment for the first time in years.
Home Movie Day is celebrated in 50 countries world-wide. The first ever Calgary Home Movie Day is at Memorial Park Library, 12–5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18. This event is free and open to the public. Members of the public are invited to bring their own movies or just come to watch and enjoy.
Home Movie Day is hosted by the Film Studies program in the U of C Faculty of Communication and Culture.
